Airbnb Tokyo Expensive and Inexpensive locations

This is a part of Udacity’s Data Scientist Nanodegree program. The purpose of this project is to analyze the Airbnb datasets and address few business questions.

I have chosen the dataset of Tokyo city, since I have been living in Japan from last few years. It is also useful for me if I ever plan to travel nearby Tokyo.

I have addressed the following business questions.

What are the top 5 expensive and inexpensive neighbourhoods in Tokyo?

What are the types of properties available in top 5 expensive and inexpensive neighbourhoods of Tokyo?

What are the average price of different types of properties in the top 5 expensive and inexpensive neighbourhood of Tokyo?

As part of study I have predicted the prices of neighbourhoods considering a few features. You can find the code and datasets on my Github profile

So lets start to address the questions one by one.

What are the top 5 expensive and inexpensive neighbourhoods in Tokyo?

Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world. The living cost is high in Tokyo. The transport systems in Japan is one of best but also the most expensive comparatively. So it is important to know the five most expensive and most inexpensive neighborhoods in Tokyo so that one can choose the proper location.

All the prices shown above are in Japanese Yen. It is interesting to know that, in the fig.1, the first 4 neighbourhoods (Chiyoda, Akihabara, Shibuya) are the glorious locations in Tokyo. The fifth one, that is “Nakameguro” is the residential area.

The fig. 2 shows the least expensive neighborhoods in the Tokyo. Here one important thing to notice that is “Marunouchi” is commercial place here many business offices are here and it is one of the most inexpensive areas.

What are the types of properties available in top 5 expensive and inexpensive neighbourhoods of Tokyo?

The types of properties available in Tokyo neighbourhoods are as follows

As shown in fig. 4 there many types of property available in Shibuya, Shibuya District and Chiyoda. Nakameguro has only apartment properties available.

There least varieties of properties in most inexpensive neighbourhoods of Tokyo compared to the expensive neighbourhoods.

It is also important to look at the average prices for different types of properties in various neighbourhoods.

What are the average price of different types of properties in the top 5 expensive and inexpensive neighbourhood of Tokyo?

The average price chart as shown in fig. 6 and fig. 7 of individual property types assist to understand to overview of neighbourhoods. For example, in Chiyoda the apartment price is higher than any other property prices. Such analysis is helpful while choosing the different types of properties in certain area.
